I *think* the point of this comic is that the shadowy character is sad at the end that his snake kissed the person instead of delivering a venomous bite, but I *like* to believe that secretly that was the plan all along, and the shadow man is actually sad because he must live vicariously through a snake’s kiss.
So…the shadowy man is actually the kid’s father who can’t see his son anymore due to undisclosed circumstances. Therefore, delivering a goodnight kiss to his son.

The Death of the Silver Surfer. Sorry it is such a large post, but it is one of my favorite set of pages out of any comic. Super sad, but also uplifting. Anytime Galactus is involved, shit gets real.
